Choose stable settings
Large set-point changes do not make standard systems cool or heat faster. Select a reasonable target and allow the equipment time to respond. Stable operation is usually more comfortable than continual adjustment.
Match schedules to occupancy
Use timers or programmed schedules to reduce operation when spaces are empty while allowing sufficient pre-cooling or warm-up. Avoid switching critical refrigeration with general building schedules.
Understand sensor location
Sunlight, draughts, appliances and blocked airflow can make a sensor misread the occupied space. A technician can assess whether placement or calibration is contributing to uneven comfort.
Know when controls are not the cause
A thermostat cannot compensate for dirty filters, failed dampers, low airflow or undersized equipment. If rooms remain uncomfortable despite sensible settings, arrange a system assessment rather than continuing to lower or raise the target.
